I have been recommeding linux apart from my day job, which is primarily have to do everything only about linux. I have installed kubuntu on my garage computer and i am surprised to see that this latest version is really awesome. I used KDE more than an year back, and with a computer with very little graphics, courtesy little RAM.
I bought some additional RAM for my garage computer and got kubuntu installed. This version is almost as good as a mac, when it comes to graphics. No doubt people at google have been using KDE.
Please do give KDE a shot, i am sure you ll be impressed.
